The World
Taloren
> The world of Lesser Quest <
Taloren is a fantasy world where adventurers create legend.
The Fantorian Era, also known as Fantaloren, is the world that the inhabitants of Taloren find themselves in currently. A brand new world filled with unexplored lands, wild monsters, and ancient treasures.
Rumours speak of an even older era known as The Valtorian Era, also known as Valtaloren, a lost age shrouded in mystery. It is only through various artifacts, strange dungeons, and inexplicable occurrences that the Valtorian Era is known.
Adventurers roam far and wide for monsters to slay, wilderness to explore, and treasure to be found. Many identify adventurers by their roles, which are used to loosely describe their capabilities and functions within groups known as adventuring parties. There are six roles:
- Fighter: Powerful brawlers who possess raw strength and melee weapon specialty.
- Hunter: Swift survivalists who use ranged weapons to land quick and decisive blows.
- Rogue: Crafty tricksters who rely on expertise, underhanded tactics, and a dash of luck.
- Bard: Inspirational casters who use Incantation to shape the events of the present.
- Mage: Methodical casters who use Conjuration to create magical objects and effects.
- Paladin: Devoted casters who use Evocation to manifest their will onto themselves and others.
The currency of Taloren is coren (abbreviated to Co).
Coren is measured in three denominations:
- Copper coren (Cc): worth 1 coren.
- Silver coren (Sc): worth 10 coren.
- Gold coren (Gc): worth 100 coren.
The calendar is made up of days, nolun, and solus.
- Day(s): From one sunrise to the next.
- Nolun: A period of 15 days, which represents the transition from a new moon to a full moon (or vice versa). Abbreviated to “NL”.
- Solus: A period of 360 days (or 24 nolun), which represents a full rotation of the sun (when it can be seen in the same spot in the sky). Abbreviated to “SL”.
There are no universal measurements of time shorter than a day, though some common phrases include: daybreak, nightfall, dawn, dusk, morning, noon, afternoon, night.
Taloren is currently in the 74th solus of the Fantorian Era.
